But is our movement really taking criticism well? It is surprizing to see that NFP all his writing life propogated that the youth should rise up, but now is being very critical of them. There is much more to his article than meets the eye. I am ready to face him, rather than hide behind my computer screen and bitching about him. I am angry at him, but I also know the role his writings have played in rousing the young to raise there voice. There is much more than meets the eye or our beliefs in his article.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801866465903086287.post-49453637580581870192007-11-28T21:26:00.000+05:002007-11-28T21:26:00.000+05:00Very well written piece. NFP is so infuriating with his holier than thou attitude, so glad you responded in such an erudite way.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801866465903086287.post-82122055229801330082007-11-27T02:58:00.000+05:002007-11-27T02:58:00.000+05:00Well said! It's very inspiring and says it in a nutshell - democracy has to be struggled for through citizens engagement. Cynicism won't change anything including our political parties. Pakistanis, in particular those who are educated, have to wisen up to this.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801866465903086287.post-11682283328628367882007-11-27T02:20:00.000+05:002007-11-27T02:20:00.000+05:00A brilliant response to not only NFP but the kind ...A brilliant response to not only NFP but the kind of attitude one often, often comes across among people who are actually very concerned about the situation but are reluctant to take part in any of the action because they are too aware of all the aspects of the activists' protests that can be criticised (even justifiably). Because they don't want to look stupid too and want to dissociate themselves with "those silly losers", they choose to just stand back. But note mate, standing back is not a neutral response! Standing back is also a decisive action - which one may choose to regret one day. It would be better if such people would use their clearly considerable mental abilities to participate in the movement and try to change things according to what they thing is effective through critique from within the movement rather than merely attempting to look cool by making fun from out.
Yeah you may generate a justifiably huge number of laughs (take Sami Shah's take on this) but to my mind that's the easy way out - that way is not only rather lazy but also rather cowardly - sorry, that is the exact adjective that fits, I'm afraid...

However, about what the writer said about Imran's great rousing strategy - well the mobilisation of PU against the IJT was a fortunate and wonderful surprise byproduct of Imran's visit to PU and subsequent treatment rather than the result of a consciously planned out ultimate master strategem of self-sacrifice. Let's not get carried away with the restrospective wishful thinking of the PTI, who to my mind have enough to be proud of in their actual actions of a consistently principled stance and don't need to act desperate and pathetic but trying to steal the thunder where it is hardly their due.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801866465903086287.post-37649835263839233172007-11-26T23:05:00.000+05:002007-11-26T23:05:00.000+05:00Excellent rebuttal and passionate defense for taki...Excellent rebuttal and passionate defense for taking a stance. There will never be a time when there will be a fully sanitized political landscape for people like NDF to step into. Politics is about choices in the messy world of competing people, principles and interests. You have to decide on your own principles ot support and do it in he best way possible. This will always mean some compromise on tactics but without a compromise on principles.

Sorry for the shameless plug but I wrote a similar piece on my own blog below:

http://writtenencounters.blogspot.com/2007/11/myth-of-musharrafs-sincerity.htmlFawad Zakariya https://www.blogger.com/profile/16008069828182560496noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801866465903086287.post-13225058767920759332007-11-26T19:43:00.000+05:002007-11-26T19:43:00.000+05:00Bravo! reading this article, one can almost feel t...Bravo! reading this article, one can almost feel the restraint shown by the author!
I for one would have been hard pressed to keep a reply to NFP's article within parlimentary bounds. If we don't, we'll be on the same path where Government is. The difference will just be that we can only write articles to show our contempt, while government uses force.

I appreciate NFP's criticizm. Nevertheless, even if they are a becoming a fashion among the top lot, such protests and overall, the resistance from these circles, must be appreciated and encouraged....long live the resistanceVicshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17291282412719196528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801866465903086287.post-56915944726764568942007-11-26T00:46:00.000+05:002007-11-26T00:46:00.000+05:00indeed an excellent article- cuynics like NFP , in...indeed an excellent article- cuynics like NFP , in my views, may be pyschos ( having ionferioirty/superiortuy comlexes) over other "westren" powers or "elist" people..

the reason why its the "elitsis" people who are revolting is because they are more educated to how other societies run them selves, how they protect their values.. indeed its in the very spirit fo islam to accept any thing good where evry people kind it... be it judiciary or democracy....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801866465903086287.post-13573725760292516112007-11-25T23:48:00.000+05:002007-11-25T23:48:00.000+05:00A very good article my friend...cynics like NFP ar...A very good article my friend...
cynics like NFP are best ignored.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
