  3. Thank you so much for providing all this information!!! I discovered this gem on facebook and am hooked. Just moved to London from Lahore and watching my country go down in flames was killing me! It made it worse that I couldn't be there to help make a difference :\ Seeing people like you make an effort like this has provided me with a paradigm shift and restored my faith in my fellow students. I feel so useless. What more can I do to help apart from promoting this blog/facebook group, etc?

  4. Imran khan has announced that he will not submit papers for the eletion. This will add to the pressure and a total boycott is likely if PPP can be convinced.

  5. I just read on BBC that Nawaz Sharif has filed his papers too. We need to mail his party too. To be frank I think we need a public display against this sham elections as both BB and NW have landed in Pak as results of deals with Mush and hence are after their own interests. If we show them that the public will not support thier participation in elections then they might pull out to please the people.

  6. All parties, except PTI, have filed papers: (We need to do something fast! We are losing this battle. We need to force these political jokers to boycott! God, they are such a selfish bunch!)

All political parties, except the PTI of Imran Khan, will file the nomination papers of their candidates on Nov 26, keeping the option of a delayed boycott open.

The leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami, the ANP, the PML-N and other parties said the final decision about the boycott would be taken later but papers would be filed to stay in the contest. “The restoration of the deposed judges and the Constitution will be the one-point agenda and the slogan of the Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) for the future struggle.”

Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, the central vice-president of the PTI, told The News his party candidates would not file their nomination papers as it had been already decided in the November 24th meeting of the APDM that all the parties would boycott the elections.

He said unless the respectable judges of the Supreme Court were restored, the Provisional Constitution Order abolished, the Constitution was restored and all the unconstitutional steps taken on or after November 3rd were reversed, the PTI would only go for a movement against the dictatorship and not for any elections under this dictatorship. “We will do what we have said and decided in consultation with other opposition parties and will not change our decision.”

Ameer-ul-Azeem, the Secretary Information, JI, told The News on Sunday night that his party candidates would file their nomination papers on Monday but it would merely be a formality and the Nov 24 decision of the APDM to boycott the elections was final, which would be finally recommended by the Majlis-e-Shoora of the JI. All candidates will withdraw their nomination papers. When asked whether the Majlis-e-Shoora could change this decision, he said: “No, we are bound to follow the decision taken in the APDM meeting. Our decision not to take part in the elections is hundred percent final.”

Ameer-ul-Azeem said that every party in the APDM, including the PML-N, was determined to boycott the election. “We have signals from PPP that if APDM boycotts the elections, it will join us for the cause of restoration of the judiciary and the Constitution.”

Haji Ilyaas Ahmad Bilour, senior leader Awami National Party, told The News his party had always worked for the supremacy of the Constitution and they would render every sacrifice for the restoration of the deposed judges and the reversal of all unconstitutional steps taken on November 3.

He said that his party wanted to boycott the elections but for this all the opposition parties should boycott the election. “All the parties in the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM), excluding the Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) have decided to boycott the election, but it would become non-functional if the Pakistan People’s Party goes for it,” Bilour said.

He said that Benazir Bhutto should boycott the election to avoid the blame of validating the unconstitutional steps of November 3. He said that if other opposition parties would take part in the elections, the ANP couldn’t leave its constituencies open for the PPP and the JUI-F.

Ahsan Iqbal, secretary information PML-N, talking to The News from the procession taking Muhammad Nawaz Sharif towards the Data Darbar, said that his party candidates would file their nomination papers on Monday but would strictly follow all the decisions of the APDM.

“The APDM has given four days to General Musharraf to restore the judiciary and the Constitution. We will follow every decision that will be taken in the November 29th meeting of the APDM.” He said that according to the election schedule, any party could boycott the elections till December 15th.

A senior leader of the JUI-F, on the condition of not being named, claimed whether his party took part in the elections or not, the restoration of honorable deposed judges of the Supreme Court and restoration of the Constitution would be their prime demand and they would do everything for this.

Farhatullah Babar, secretary information Pakistan People’s Party, told The News that his party was still to decide about boycotting the elections. “We will take this decision in consultation with all other opposition parties within a few days,” Babur said. The restoration of the judiciary and 1973-Constitution of Pakistan is our first demand, Babar added.

  7. BB is a gone case. She does not even talk of revival of judiciary after Negroponte's visit.
NS I am sure will boycott if the judiciary is not revived.
    Shame on you BB.
