We are worse off than Burma (it's a fact)

Your fact of the day:

Pakistan now ranks below Burma in the United Nations Human Development Index's social indicators—a fact not terribly surprising given that Musharraf, in the last eight years of rule, has invested only 2% of GDP on education.

This interesting article demonstrates how not only have the leaders of this country succeeded in turning this country into a vultures politics bait in the upcoming US presidential elections, but their track record in achieving social progress in this country, should make the junta in Burma quiet envious of them.

we shall be a muslim one day inshaALLAH when we feel ourselves as a Muslim. I wonder what may had allowed you to go to UN and compare pakistan with other states. good job dude. doing a similar job what GEO used to do :) Keep up the good work.

we can never get succeded unless we had attitude in ourselves. A Muslim attitude. fear Allah subhanahoo wa taala only.

2 Options. if we want peace and harmony in pakistan.

1. Theif present himself to Police for justice. Murderer kills himself for his unjustified action. Politician start telling truth etc etc.

2. Someone with a stick come and let this thing happen despite the will of people.

Choose one.

Since Mr. Musharaf came into power, he politely asking his country men to vote people who are worthy. did we ever listen to that advice. Come on you have lots to say now.

Best of Luck.

Wrong:

"Pakistan NOW ranks below Burma in the United Nations Human Development Index"

Correction:

"Pakistan has ranked below Burma FROM BEFORE"

FACT: Pakistan Human Development Index figure fell dramatically during the 90s when we had "democracy" It started rising again during Musharrafs era. We rank below Burma because we had fallen behind before. Not during Musharrafs era.

Where do you get you're 2% GDP figures from? Please stop spreading incorrect information.

FACT: Higher education spending:

1999 - Rs 800 million
2007 - Rs 28 billion

Thats a 47 TIMES INCREASE!!!

FACT: Education Budget as a % of GDP:

1999 - 1.7%
2004 - 2.76% (and much higher in 2007 i don't have the figure, probably more than 3%)

During Musharraf, we are building schools in villages, free universl primary education, monthly stipends to all girls in primary schools, free books, building world class universities. Foreign universities from Europe and the US are coming and buiding campuses in Pakistan. The govt. has set a Rs. 100 billion education development plan. A plan has launched to achieve literacy rate of 90% in 2015, up from less than 50% in 1999. We have other similar programs launched. ONE example below.

No. of PHDs produced:

1999 - 60
2004 - 250 (much higher now)
2015 - 1500 (target)
