IBA Students disallowed from protesting

From ‘an IBA student who wants to join the movement’

The Administration of IBA has made it very clear that any student found even wearing black a ribbon as protest against emergency will be expelled without a hearing before the disciplinary committee. This "unofficial notice" came after students of IBA made a silent protest against emergency by wearing black bands on their arms and foreheads. Students in Karachi want to be part of the students' movement but the administrations are not letting this happen.

This is truly unfortunate. But, if this is so, then write to The Emergency Times, write to newspapers and the media, make your voice heard anyway. Just be careful.

If you cant protest in IBA. Protest outside. There are isolated groups of students who are willing to make their voices heard. If you can gather a few from your college, maybe we can form a larger group and build a longer sustained resistance. Even beyond the emergency, even beyond the elections. If this isnt the chance to make huge changes, it certainly is a chance to start. We have a point of concurrence. Lets make that the milestone. Lets write history this way: In November 2007, some people got together....

This is a bit disheartening to hear. I am glad that LUMS administration, which usually opposes student political activities, actually supported them this time.

Go IBA people! You can break throught the chains. They cannot kick out whole batches!

it is a goddamn institution of the sheep which aims to produce sheep for mass consumption and to make others sheep.

it is only interested in providing fodder for the military corporations. and the last thing that iba wants is for its students to start thinking, lest they may question the sanity of their admin (sheep).

I would urge IBA students, who have felt that this is the time to unite for our own rights, please write to saynotomartiallaw@gmail.com and studentcouncil@lums.edu.pk. Lets unite and make a difference. I am sure, student have a lot more credibility and potential to emerge as honest leaders for Pakistan.

Wear black clothes. They can't stop you from that. Wear at least one item of clothing that is black.

Whatever you guys are planning to do, it wont make a difference. So stop wasting time even thinking about protesting, as it would do you no good.

Concentrate on your studies, get a good job, coz that is what most of you would eventually want after graduating. At least there has not been any problem getting good jobs during Musharraf's time; Iam sure a lot of you don't know what was the situation in the past.

Even Iam not fine with whatever has been happening in the country....but still.

Be practical!
